I'm having a lot of trouble trying to create dialogues because I do not know how to edit the corresponding files from the scriptmaker. Whenever I attempt to edit the dialogue an error message tells me that it cannot open the dlg file corresponding to the script, and I thought that I had to create the dlg directory manually and the file but when I did this I still couldn't use the dialogue file I created. If anyone edits using 1074 and creates dialogue with it I would be much obliged if they could tell me the method they use to do so- I hit a brick wall and I'm still very new to creating modules in arcanum.

An alternative to my problem would be to follow the amtut using the 1070 version, although I cannot find a place to download it. The tutorial is excellent but I'm afraid I wont be able to use the instructions there for dialogue creation and it seems that the links for the 1070 WorldEd download are not working. Another site where I could find the version at would be very helpful, but I have yet to find it.

It's right here, on this site. Be sure to check the downloads sections before creating topics.

    Welcome to the forum, yrome!

Edit: Drog covered the WorldEd part.

The 1.0.7.0 version works with unpacked DATs, so you may need to get DATBuilder from the download section.

Now, some new and improved stuff for scripting is being made, but for now, this has worked good for me:

I use it in concert with Sockmonkey, but like I said, better is being made.

Save the dlg files to the dlg folder and the scr ones to the scr folder and you should be in business.

Thank you for the help, I finally got the dialogues working now; I realized that I wasn't saving the dlg files as the dlg type once I started using the diarea. Thanks agian for the link, the dialogue editor will surely speed up the grueling dialogue creation :)

That reminds me, we should probably retire that copy (provided by DU about 5 years ago?) from the main downloads section and upload yours from the unofficial patch instead.

If you feel like trying something new, and have gotten the hang of scr/dlg editing, I'd suggest the new version of scripted that DJ_Unique just released. You can find it here:

    http://terra-arcanum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=14836

However, I have to admit that I've been using notepad for over a year until DJ_Unique updated his tools. It's probably best to be able to create a simple dialog, such as you might make using AMTUT, before using the new version of scripted. That having been said, I would definitely use scripted for script editing once you know the actions/conditions, no question. Since you're new, you might use the old version of scripted, because the new one doesn't have a list of commands yet. The older (simpler) version can be found here:
