Sorry about the double post. Trust me, I'm not spamming for a post count, just got a little absent minded in regards to the edit button.

All other games work fine, with the exceptions of a few really dated ones working with Vista... But I haven't tried all the methods of making them work with those ones. Which include Baldur's Gate 2, and Icewind Dale 2.

But... Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 work fine. Warcraft 3 works fine. Diablo 2 works fine. Etc.

Just Arcanum. I'm reasonably sure my drivers are updated, but just in case they aren't... Recommend a good method to do it? I went directly to nvidea's website to update with the exact driver and it wouldn't install the update or I was just too much of a newb-idiot to do it the right way or selected the wrong one.

If you're sure about the chip family (e.g. 9000 series vs 9M series), make sure you are selecting the correct OS. 64-bit drivers won't install on 32-bit Vista.

Once you got the correct driver installer package from NVidia, the installation should be very straight forward. Run EXE, next, next, next, restart, done.

Use a DriverCure or DriverBot or some other prgorams like that. They'll automatically scan your drivers and update them. It is including every driver. Processor, graphics, sound etc. Most of them come with a price, but you could look for free downloads from google though( its illegal ofcourse ).
And you could also try Everest to learn about your PC specs.

I would not recommend anyone letting a software decide what drivers to install on your computer. It can be DISASTROUS if the software installed anything not compatible.

Such software cannot magically know what drivers to install. Think how it knows where to download a graphics card's driver, if the graphics card is manufactured by a company not yet formed at the software's release date?

I assume they work by calling home - downloading a list of device data regularly, so it knows where to find what. And if the list doesn't contain your device, or is not the most up-to-date? Is the software going to prompt you for actions, or will it attempt to guess?

Also, drivers are very important pieces of software. If a driver is compromised, your whole system could be compromised. You never want to download a driver from anywhere other than your hardware manufacturer's web site. With those software you gave up the control.

Like learning to drive a car, or reading the manual so you know how to use all the functions of your cellphone, it's worth it to learn about how to maintain your computer.

It worked! Something that simple... Man... Here's my cue to feel like the dumbest person alive. Thanks for all the help guys. Much appreciated. I look forward to becoming an active member here. I've loved this game since it first came out.

I avoid such programs on the grounds that they're usually more spamware than helpful. Most people do use out-dated drivers, but it generally doesn't matter. You also aren't likely to demo your system by screwing up drivers, for the record. If you miss-install a video driver, or something fairly critical, then you'll either need to re-install your OS, or just fight through a low-res screen to fix what you did. In most cases the software will detect if it's the right version before it'll allow you to install it. Glad to know that you're all set with your drivers, Kharth. Enjoy Arcanum!
