Sogg Mead Mugg seems to have picked up some sort of poison curse while on the beach on the island of despair. His symptom is that every few seconds, a pentagram flashes underneath him and he's poisoned. Virgil goes ahead and cures him, but then he becomes poisoned again in a few seconds. Cure poison potion doesn't permanently stop it. Can't seem to find a tech alternative to the potion. Its a hassle because when I use waypoints on the world map, Sogg dies (and there's nothing quite as useful as having a half-ogre do your fighting for you.) What's going on here? Any suggestions?
Thanks, you're exactly right. He's wearing a pair of unidentified gauntlets that when removed, stop the problem. Idiot half ogre auto-looted them and put them on when I had spent the money to get him a perfectly good pair of charmed gauntlets. I guess that's what you get associated with half-ogres...
I'm always curios about NPC evaluation of items, because they sometimes use weapons/armor/items that are worse then other things in their inventory. You can identify this gauntles but he use them anyway...probably he is unable recognize curse and only count protection values....
Actually, that is what they do. They don't (and probably can't) factor in the hexed part of an item, and use it based on the resistances. It would either be impossible, or a really big algorithm to choose between hexed and non-hexed items the way a human would - unless you want to wait for perfect (and dedicated) AI or 5 minutes while the computer decided whether to equip it or not, I suggest looking at what equipment your npc's have regularly.
Yep, you are right  but why I can't wear/wield their items manually....maybe next patch can have override for followers management _________________ ...Nothing is impossible... [ This Message was edited by: William Walker on 2001-11-12 09:45 ]
If you can't override, take the option away - take them from his inventory, and put them in yours, and he'll equip the next best thing...repeat until he's wearing what you want him to wear .
