ID'ing Magic Items?

Howdy all,

As you can tell from the question I'm about to ask I'm pretty new to the game.

How the hell do I get magic items ID'd? I've purchased a scroll of ID from the vendor in Tarant and tried every way I can think of to get it to work. Dragging the scroll on the item, dragging the item on the scroll, making a hot button for the scroll and trying to click on the item...None of these work. What am I doing wrong?

As a follow up question, are there any NPCs that ID magic items. At 5700 coin per scroll, it's going to get expensive quickly IDing all the magic items I've found so far.

Gypsies identify items. They are usually in the outskirts of a city though not in every city. For sure they are in Shrouded Hills (the lady you pass by on your way to the bridge), Tarant (below docks, outside city walls) and Ashbury.

 

i think theres a glitch it doesnt work but the other scrolls work.

 

Just a little addition: there's also a gypsy in Caladon.

 

There is also a 5th level spell that will id items i can't remember the school of magic but it is the same one that has sense alignment.

 

that would be the divination college

 

And the spell itself is Divine Magic. However unless you wanted to learn that college anyway I don't think it's worth the trouble. IDing costs only 100gold per piece and mages don't have money problems.

 

Well once you max out force and conveyance you got a lot of cp's to spend.
