help with a few things

1. In the university you can buy various technological manuals from the bookseller, but I have no idea how to use, read or learn from them. they cost 750 a piece and thats really expensive for something i cant get to work.
2. In Tulla, after I got the loc of vendigroth on my map, I dicided to go through the portal gate thing other then the exit one before I left, just to see what it was. It took me to a small room with no exits. all there was was 2 chests, and a "stone" thing. The chests contain numerous peices of 'Fa'al kin' armor, in which I had to equip in order for the stone to take me anywhere when I clicked it.When it worked, It took me to another small exitless room, with nothing at all except another stone. This stone doesn't do anything at all, cept say "the stone doesn't seem to be reacting" or something. I have a habit of quicksaving all the time, and I saved in the room. I need to get out!
3. Raven (Silver Lady's daughter) told me to see Silver Lady I had remove the humans from Falchion's Ache but I can't attack them because its an elven sacred groud. Please help.

 

You don't really *use* them...just keeping them in your inventory increases your aptitude in the Technological dicipline. The amount that each manuel increases your aptitude is the same as your IQ

For ex: If you have an IQ of 16, and you buy a Smithy manuel, then by just having the manuel in your invetory, your Smithy aptitude will increase by 16. If you have two smith manuels...then it'll increase by 32...ect ect.

They're good for allowing you to build items from schematics, that otherwise you'd lack the skill to build.

If you have a high enough persuation you can convince them you were sent by Bates, and that this is his land. Otherwise you can just keep insulting them until they attack you. Because they attack you first the ghosty guys will come out of the ground and get them.

Here is the answer:

In the Tulla library, you find Herzok Munk. He asks you to retrieve the platinum chalic from Fa’al Kin’s Maze. This is a rather infuriating quest. It involves getting through a series of rooms by clicking on the stone in the middle of the room.
The first room contains two chests with Fa’al Kin’s items (Ring, Necklace, Helmet, Boots, Gloves and Dagger).
The second room is empty. To be able to leave you must be wearing Fa’al Kin’s ring (and none of his other items, but you can wear normal items)
The third room is empty. To be able to leave you must be wearing Fa’al Kin’s Necklace (and none of his other items, but you can wear normal items)
The fourth room is empty. To be able to leave you must be wearing Fa’al Kin’s Helmet (and none of his other items, but you can wear normal items)
The fifth room is empty. To be able to leave you must be wearing Fa’al Kin’s Boots (and none of his other items, but you can wear normal items)
The sixth room is empty. To be able to leave you must be wearing Fa’al Kin’s Gloves (and none of his other items, but you can wear normal items)
The seventh room is empty. To be able to leave you must be wearing Fa’al Kin’s Dagger (and none of his other items, but you can wear normal items)
The eighth room is empty. To be able to leave you must be all Fa’al Kin’s items.
Finally, you find Fa’al Kin’s platinum chalice on the floor in the ninth room, to exit you must be wearing none of Fa’al Kin’s items.
Returning to Herzok, he will give you a scroll of Phantasmal Fiend.
