Does Living On Easy Street ruin the fun or enhance it? In Tarant, I blew a fate point to open the lock on the inventory of the dwarven shopkeeper and stole his entire stock. Now I'm blasting through Arcanum with First Rate weapons and armor, but some of the fun I had looting bodies has been lost. How is it with you? By the way, I'm considering robbing another store. Now I'm a kleptomaniac. Should I go for guns or magic?

I play a thief in Arcanum.
    No alegiance, no moral.

I loot stores, which help me obtain better weapons and armor, and I do not see it wrong.

    Arcanum is a role-playing experience.

The manual states that "... combat, for good or for bad, is a major component of the game ...".
Why waste hours of game play in one single battle, when you can let the computer do it and focus on the true exploration/adventure?

    I say:
If you could get it, use it.
If you can't use it, sell it.
If you can't sell it, store it in a safe-box (you may need it for a quest or schematic).
And if you are a kleptomaniac, associate to the Thieves Guild. You might as well gain experience and levels while you have some fun.

    Ahh, yes very good advice.

If you are going to rob a store do either the blacksmith, gun techie, or the inventor, as I found all their stuff mroe usefull.

    I looooooove guns

    Burglary

    General Store - Twice
    Gun Shop - Twice
    Armory - Four Times
    Magical Armory - Twice
Magic Shop (heavily guarded, couldn't do it, but picked the owner's pocket three times)

Plus I've robbed various other shops, including what I think may have been the fence for the thieve's guild.

A last word of advice to our "kleptomaniac" friend:

Stealing in arcanum follows the rule of demand and offer:

Sell back to them what you don't use, or else it will not be available in the future if you need it.

    Steal intelligently.
Steal only the steel you need.
Also, when you sell back to them, make sure you STOP selling for that day when they start offering less that the item's value.
It means you have depleted their wares and money and you have to "sleep" for a night before you can continue.

    Good luck!

The magic stop easiest, you dont even have to pick the lock and there are people around to sell the loot to.

That was one of the things that i liked about Arcanum you could be rich as hell and the game would still give you a hard time. I think mola made it a bit easier but not much it was very well balance in this since I think. 3:)
