I LOVE Garfield! If anyone has noticed, I think I posted a few replies as one of the comics. I LOVE them, and are trying to spread it around.... Anyway, Here are a few good ones:  Garfield has such a funny twist to life!
Well, I never reallly thought much of Garfield myself. Lazy, snobbish, contemptuous... hardly a role model ya know. There are only so many ways a cat can insult his owner and dog tastefully... most of the lines are getting old. From the technical aspect, I sometimes think Jim Davis is as lazy as the cat he draws - most of his frames show Garfield in the same positions day in, day out. Look at your example carefully and you'll see.. Snoopy's my favourite. He's cool, his plots vary, and he doesn't take it out so much on his owner... plus the other people in the gang are perfectly capable of holding their own. It's a pity there won't be any new strips coming out. :History Mode: I was reading The Disney Films by Leonard Maltin the day, and he mentioned how the studio came up with Donald Duck because they could do stuff with Donald that they couldn't with Mickey. See, Mickey was supposed to be a role model, flagship character. They couldn't have him throwing a tantrum over chipmunks invading his house, or deliberately trying to abandon a pigeon in the wild. (If you watched enough Disney during your childhood you would know what I am talking about). Hence, the creation of Donald, to do the things Mickey couldn't. It struck me while reading your post that Snoopy was exactly the same thing to Peanuts. Charlie Brown, bless his soul, was the eternal loser. He couldn't be portrayed as cool and hip and go on crazy adventures. So in came Snoopy to provide the feel-good flavour that all good comics have. Sure enough, Snoopy soon exeeded his master in popularity; as did Donald over Mickey. (From Snoopy.com - look, it's not even Peanuts.com!) Snoopy is an extroverted beagle with a Walter Mitty complex. He is a virtuoso at every endeavor- at least in his daydreams atop his doghouse. He regards his master, Charlie Brown, as "that round-headed kid" who brings him his supper dish. He is fearless though prudently cautious about "the cat next door." He never speaks- that would be one human trait too many- but he manages to convey everything necessary in facial expressions and thought balloons. A one-man show with superior intelligence and vivid imagination, he has created such multiple personalities as: Joe Cool, World War I Flying Ace, Literary Ace, Flashbeagle, Vulture, Foreign Legionnaire, etc. :/History Mode: Snoopy's first hand at typewriting The last Peanut strip P.S. try pasting B&W images next time - your image is 70K(!) [EDIT (See post below)] Gosh, yeah, I didnt' realise it. Changed it to a link. I remember some guy once telling me that if Yahoo really had a grudge against you all they would have to do is to link an image from your page to theirs (resized so that it's unnoticable, of course). The millions who visit their page load your image every time they go there. Your server can't handle it, bye-bye page. [/EDIT]
Guys, you realize that you hotlinked those pics without authorization from the owner? It's bandwidth theft. Not very nice. (gets a flashback from that www.somethingawful hotlink and vomits)
I have to agree with Tzehoong. Garfield was funny once, but now it's getting watered down and tired. I prefer the Boondocks, Non Sequitor, and Sherman's Lagoon.
I'm a Garfield fan too. It's great though I admit that truly hilarious ones are becoming really rare. Well, you can't possibly expect to hava a great idea for a short cartoon every single day for God knows how many years.
Yeah, Non Sequitor (?) is great. I'm not really into cartoon/comic strips, but I always read NS if the paper's around. Peanuts over Garfield anyday.
Have anyone of you read fuzzy? It is a great comic that describes cats very well. The cat is just as mean as garfield. http://www.comics.com/comics/getfuzzy/index.html
Snoopy himself is good, Peanuts is crap. Bandwidth Police Bad boy, bad boy, what ya gonna do? What ya gonna do when they come for you? On an unrelated note: Jill is looking for my e-mail address apparently.
No, see, the quote function is this: Code: [quote="DU's excuse for a post"] [/quote] See how you've got the square brackets and exclamation marks? That's how you use the quote function. Jill still wants my e-mail though. She just popped up again. I must say hi to her one day, stupid bitch that she is. Always harrasing me. I mean, can't the girl take "no" for an answer? I mean, hey! Sure, she looks nice but I mean, who wants a possessive "I want your e-mail give me your e-mail now or else" kinda girl anyway? Sheeeesh, talk about obsessive.
I realize DU will launch all his mighty BattleShip weapons at me for this question but [tuneon]Who's that girl?[/tuneoff]
Hey DU, if you don't want her, send her my way. I'm opening a strip club and need dancers. (I think she might be a porn pop-up star)
You're not serious are you? Do you know how much money that will cost? well flesh is always a good investment but aren't you worried about the drugs and prosti... well the drugs anyway?? :-?
