I mean when a weapon is too heavy for a character? I'm specifically talking about Virgil here (ST 9). At the moment he is weilding a charmed sword, I had given him better weapons before but it seemed to just slow him down in combat. What is the best weapon that he can weild? Sword of Air? Any other suggestions?

You can tell a weapon is too heavy for them when on thier equipment screen it is on a red background

More important than weight is speed. All weapons have a speed rating. I would rather swing twice with a 1 - 8 sword than once with a 1 - 12 axe.

if a character is wielding a weapon that has a strength requirement higher than their strenght, the weapon box will turn red and it will say MSR and the strength that you need to wield the weapon properly. if you dont meet the strength requirement you TH is lowered as well as your damage

I've got him using the stillwater blade right now, but i haven't finished the game so I wouldn't know what the best weapon for him is

sord of air is kinda nice. on your first day in stillwater (late game) you can buy an envenomed sword from the blacksmith. virgil loves this and it is light, fast, and does nice poison damage. i dont believe that he ever becomes too magic to use it.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I find it odd giving priest-wannabe Virgil a sword. Especially with his fondness for robes, he looks better with a staff. Though I may have to force him into a nice suit or some armor, since those robes look naff.

But he was never a priest, he barely made accolyte wanabe when you met him.

Personnally, I always go for speedy weapons with reasonably good damage rating. Balanced Swords are very good in this respect though I also like the Stillwater Blades.(bound spells are always good!)

I agrre. The balanced sword is a good weapon 4 Virgil. But doesn't his magic apt. reduce TH and damage? I would go 4 a Heavy Barbarian's blade, or a pyrotechnic axe.

Vergil never gets too magic for the Envenomed Sword, let alone the Ballanced Sword.
