Hello again out there in Arcanumland. I would like a few hints on a few quest that I never quite completed although I have finished the game once. First , in which direction might I search for the Wizard the blacksmith in Stillwater wants me to find? Secondly, that key glass figurine inside of the magically locked table in Hadrian's room would'nt possibly be the key to the Iron Clan gate as mentioned in Durim's book of truth would it? If so, I found no way to get it even though I am a master locksmith. I realize that I can get the schematic from a dwarf to make one, but if I can use the glass figure why bother? Third, in Caladon there is a heavy magically locked trap door in the home of one the murdered women. How would one open that? Magical unlock cantrip doesn't work niether did dynamite. If it just leads to the sewers then I'm not really interested, but if not, I am certainly curious to see what lies beneath it.
Furthermore, I can't see why Hadrian sent me on a wild goose chase for the tomb, when the answer is so near. And then he wont speak to you anymore, poor thing. Thanks!

    Okay!

    1) In Stillwater, go to the sort-of-north-westernmost-ish house on the map. There are dirty footprints in the snow there for you to follow.

    2) Yes the glass key is the one mentioned in Durin's Truth. The schematic makes another, different key, one to the iron chest in the Zoological Society in Tarant. Hadrian will give you the key (and talk to you again) after you find out what happened to Mannox.

    3) No you can't open those heavy trap doors. They're just clues. And yes, if you COULD open them, they would indeed lead to the sewer!

    Thanks!

I'm off to see the wizard.................... As for Mannox, I thought that guy in Thanatos(you know who) told me about him. I'll have to go back and check maybe. Thanks again.

Please don't go all the way back to Thanatos unless you've got Teleportation.... To get the quest for Mannox, just talk to Alexander and What's-his-name the historian after examining the sarcophagus under the church.

For the mission of St. Mannox you must find the tomb... very difficult. How the hell you follow the coordinates in the stone? I finally found it running like mad around, but I don't know how to follow those coordinates!

*Warning* Might spoil something! Hey... I found out something fun, just in case you don't know... I made all the evil way through the game until K'an Hua gave me the mission to retrieve the Vendigroth Device... then instead I went to Thanatos and received the same mission from *cough* Nasrudin *cough*, (funny I had "Retrieve the Vendigroth Device for..." twice :D )... and when I went to the ring Brodgar there it was K'an Hua dead and Nasrudin told me he had to kill him... well then I'll explain a bit more if you didn't see that. :)

    Did you see that?

    Too cool!

I tried doing that in my evil game, but never got any sort of quest option from Nasrudin as I was hoping. Even worse, Evil Surly Virgil, slayer of Joachim and All of Stillwater, went all ga-ga over Nasrudin just like he does when he's Good Polite Virgil. Infuriating!

So what happened? Huh? Huh?

    Well if I must... :)

Not much... but here: My Virgil too became a wuss, and then everytime I asked him a question he talked with the good Virgil scheme... until we came to Vendigroth, I asked once, the same... I asked again and Evil Virgil is back!

Then I returned to the Ring of Brodgar and I was wondering what will happen since I got the same mission from two different characters... And there it was Nasrudin and K'an Hua was dead there too, then I asked Nasrudin what happened and he said that he found K'an Hua there and that K'an Hua said something like You can't still be alive! and attacked him, so he had to kill him.

Then he says that surely K'an Hua was there to prevent you from being banished... but that he doesn't know how K'an Hua knew that you were going to be banished (Nasruding doesn't know you were working for K'an Hua  ).

Well that's all... not much, but was funny anyway. To get it you must receive the mission from K'an Hua and then do the mission of finding the remains of Nasrudin so you can go to Thanatos and well... questions? :D

    Mannox quest

Hello there Lagash. Well no, I have'nt seen it because I for some reason have not been able to complete or even start the Mannox quest. I have been to the "Ilse of death" as spelled in Latin on the southernmost tip of the land "across the water" and have spoken to the "old elf" about this "Saint" but I have no idea where to look. So, I went back to Caladon to talk to Alexander and Hadrian again and thier studious partner to no avail. I cannot decipher the blood numerals on the tomb but I'm sure about the circle of stones. Sooooo, you don't have to give it away but could you point me in the right direction? I'm just dying to go to the Iron Clan. Was there perhaps something in the dialog that I have missed? Yes you know lately I have been traveling with Virgil and Raven. Peculiar thing is that sometimes after a fight, Raven becomes completely disrobed. I'm not sure if she fancies me, or just rejuvenating her dragon skin armor. No one seems to mind though!

The Mannox quest can be completed by going all the way to the west when you arrive Roseborough. You might see a wheel in the floor, that means you're close; then you'll see a stone entrance but first you need to have talked with Gunther first so you know that truth is the word that opens the Mannox Vault... warning: some NPC always picks up Mannox stuff and you might thing there's not there! I hope that helps.

Sorry for answering a week later, but I got a virus... well no me, the PC and...... ok, I don't need to explain about those trojan viruses...

    Thanks again Lagash

I bet you have played this game quite a lot. Actually I have already done the Mannox quest however I saw no Elves Knua or whatever and there was no password, I just walked right in and got the items. This is my 2nd go round and I'm using a male Elf character(picked) this time. The only quest I'm curious about is the amulet that Gaylin wanted and I know who has it but I don't want to kill him to get it and I'm saving my remaining CPs for dodge and persuasion masters as I already have lockpick and bow. I also want to be the master of Force as well so you see I'm trying to keep my alignment at +100 when I get to Tulla just in case. Also I understand there are 2 or 3 halflings on the outskirts of Blackroot(I got the dagger), but is that another quest or what? Thank you again.

Are you saying you just walked right into the cave of Mannox without first paying a visit to "Nasrudin's tomb"?

As for the amulet, I just blow a fate point on it. I always seem to have plenty. If I run short, there's always Kree. :D

Yes, the naked halflings are part of another quest. Talk to the one near the mayor's house first.

    Thanks

Yes, 10-4 on that fate point. No, I went to the tomb like Hadrian suggested, but I was saying there was no Knua elves at Mannox's entrance or password. (not that I minded). I just walked right in and walked right out. Speaking of Kree, I got thier Idol once, what do you do with it? Sell it? Who wants it anyway? Thanks again.

    OHHHHHHH.

The dark elf guards are outside of the high priest's office, not "Nasrudin's tomb". And there's nobody at all standing outside Mannox's cave near Roseborough. I mean, the dark elves don't even know it exists.

Stealing the idol of the Kree barbarians is a Tarant thieves' guild quest. If you make it out of Kree with the idol in your inventory AND not having killed anybody, you get a fate point. This can be done multiple times. Walk out, point. Walk back in, point. Out, in, out, in, until you get sick of it. Definitely needs to be fixed, but I doubt we'll be seeing any more official patches.

To meet K'an Hua you must have done the evil way through the game, then after you join the Dark Elves (that spoiled something? ) you'll receive a quest to go see him; otherwise he won't appear at all. And if you do the Mannox quest while doing the evil way, when you give Alexander the book of Mannox, K'an Hua will appear and try to kill you...
    ...
    ...
...almost all the time he shots a desintegrate spell at you! If you survive, then all the guards and Alexander will help you kill K'an Hua. (Alexander stats are 20 for everything except beauty and charisma 14 & 16).

As for the Idol of Kree, you get the mission to retrieve it from Thaddeus Mynor, the leader of the Underground. Is the second mission after retrieving the Tarant Sewers map... oh, look how easy is to spoil! :(

    So far so good though

Thanks, but I stay to the good side. No small wonder the thieves underground don't want anything to do with me. Funny though I can pick locks and steal yet my alignment never changes unless I take someone out. As for the Kree idol, well I just as soon "rough it" in the void with my remaining fate points, although that's quite a creative and handy suggestion depending on your disposition that is. I haven't really been interested in downloading any of the patches being I purchased the game in Nov. of 2002, but do you think there will be a sequel soon? How about some of these "mods" as they are called. Do you recommend any in particular after I've played all the quest in the original, or should I say "which one did you download?". Also there is a option in "options" that is listed simply ''Game". It lets you choose between "arcanum" or vor---something or other. I have never swtiched over, but are the quest the same in a different country? Thanks so much, you guys are experts not so much spoilers!

Truly? Didn't happen in my game. The evil people treated me like I was on the evil path, and the good people treated me like I was on the good path, and Evil Surly Virgil seemed to develop a split personality. One minute he's congratulating me on the slaughter of Stillwater, and the next he's going all starry-eyed over Alexander and Nasrudin.

The evil path is seriously bugged, I do believe.

Re: So far so good though

You can be a 100% goody goody & still be a member in good standing of the thievs' Guild.

The game hasn't changed scince the origanial release. It goes much smoother with the patch. You can ask Magnus to wait & have him come back. If your followers take friendly fire, they accept it as a combat accident. Your followers will continue to level up to 50 even after you hit it, & lots of other stuff. No it isn't ALL fixed.

    Hope so.

There are little helpful mods, the level cap lifter, the shopkeeper hack, small fun ones like the gun mod, & then big expansive mods like Chris Beedoes (spelling?) CBArcanum series. What do you want?

Vormantown is a multi player training module. You can run it solo. There are other modules that are really seperate games.

Canis, if K'an Hua didn't appear to you when you gave Alexander the Mannox journal, is surely because you didn't meet K'an Hua at all. That only happens if you've been doing all the evil path.

If it didn't happen and you were doing the evil path I can only think you don't have the game patched! :???:

I gave Alexander the journal after meeting with K'an Hua but before obtaining the Vendigroth Device. And I'm patched.

    Bah.
