I was wondering if you must be a persuasion Master to make those folks agree about the statue for the mayor, or just expert. I have a feeling that they don't agree about much of anything even though you can try all the different responses. The Mayor is not at all impressed or amused with you, and funny the folks walk outside and become suddenly so polite.
You definitely don't have to be master. I think I usually do it as an expert, and it works out fine. Intelligence is also a big factor here, unlike the master persuasion quest, so you might want to pick up a potion of intellect if you're playing a moron.
INT must be the big factor. My char doesn't have much in the way of charisma or persuassion, but my INT was 14 or 15 and they agreed to everything I said.
IN 12 or better to get through the Ashbury Orator thing. I don't know if persuasion is needed at all. My PCs all tend to have CH 8 & Expert persuasion at a minium.
I think charisma is important... don't know, I also think that you'll get more xp if you answer the best answers... (they say, 'not a bad idea' for the good responses... but 'astounding' for the better ones). The only time I got to answer the best answers was with a dwarf... I've tryied with an elf (IN 20, Persuasion4 Expert, CH20), and I got better responses with the dwarf... anyone could explain me that?
Different responses/questions No wonder. I have a female elf leaning towards magic, an expert with the bow, Master locksmith. So, since I planned on using very little technology(no guns or expolsives), and....I am cleaning house with a high perception, strength and WP, I never saw the need to raise the IN. However, since you say so, do the questions and/or the responses differ if in fact your IN was at a certain level? In other words, since I don't like the Ogre with his low or moron IN initially, and sent him there still slobering over his English, would the questions and or responses be any different,or do the town folk just seem to "know" how high your intelligence is? Judging from some of the responses available to certain questions, I was curious as to whether they would shout in unison "Absolutey Fabulous!" , when my Charisma and Persuasion was at an all time low, and I said "flip a coin"? I seem to recall having a human with a doctorate in gunsmithing, and they still argued like baboons on a Friday night. But then again, I wasn't concerned that much with persuasion because I wasn't interested in the Caladon Unified Kindom quest. Gosh, I love this game, it's so much like politics in our real world. We can't elect a rocket scientist to the presidency because he lacks the charisma to get the votes, or is it a combination of the voter's intelligence or both? Thanks again guys for shedding light on such a contraversal subject. I wish there was a dialog for when a character returned to town and the Mayor has that attitude, you could just say something like "hey sob, you got elected mayor, you sort it out!". And if he don't like that, dust him.
