I just started a game being an elf and I already see that the reactions are gonna be real different! Starting with sogg, I had to buy him a drink before he would talk to me. Since elves and dwarfs don't get along to good, am I gonna have trouble with dwarves in the party or am I going to have to get to 20 CHA to prevent this? I was only gonna go to 16 and leave gar out after I get chukka. I believe I'm gonna have trouble with Jayna when I switch from techy to magick. Do I need to invest in the spell charm? to work on those who don't care for me that much. What a difference a character makes.............. I know I could play a half-elf and not have these problems, but I'm gonna try this one for a few levels and see what happens. Parmanian Parmanian
Don't worry about it, especially if you plan on putting points into charisma and persuasion. The race reactions just mix things up a bit.
Playing a half elf mage this time through- guess what.... you are gonna have a problem with jainna- she wont join you if you are higher twd magic- she told me you dont seem to be tecnically inclined i dont think we would make a good team- oh and btw my carasmia is 13 and i have apprentice in persuasion still no dice she just wont join me. Im still fairly early into the game level 8 so maybe later when im a little higher she will join- not sure but ill let ya know.
I always start out techy (for charged rings) aand Jayna ONLY joins you if you are at least 11 tech, no way around that. What I'm worried about is when I have her wait later on in the game, she may not want to rejoin because of the high MA. Parmanian
Unless you are going Mental, Purity of Water is better than Charm. An NPC can save against the spell. You never save against your own spells. If you do use Charm, NEVER Charm a NPC when you first talk. If there is a first time you meet dialog, such as with Magnus, it will not come up. The NPC will think you are an old friend or some such. With Charm, you can walk into the sewer thieves lair, say hello, & steal them blind.
So far I am just getting different dialogs, I guess magnus didn't even know I was an elf. But I'm playing a night mage and my old charged rings loose the're might at night. Gotta get AoF to help out. I don't want to fool with jayna leaving because she's valuable to party so I'll get 20 CHA to make sure she sticks around when I wait her. I've been playing techie so long I depend on those things and really miss em when there not there. Parmanian PS it could just be that the cha is so high, at this point in the game it is overriding the hatred for an elf!
