they all have their pluses and minus' depends on the way you wanna play. I use neither one, it takes points away from other stuff. You see, I don't fight, I just start em' let my 10 followers clean up the mess.

I use stone throw to get the enemy agitated!

Its completely up to you being a gunslinger, archer or molotav thrower.

If you don't depend on your party to help you also have to put points into melee and dodge, when your ranged doesn't work.

Just try each one for a while and you'll find the one you like best. I don't know if bow and guns are like throwing, but I didn't bother throwing something until I was an expert. My followers got mad when I kept hitting them instead of the enemy.

I recomend combining throwing with either of the other two. Particularly if you use grenades. Stun and Paralysis grenades are very useful to gunslingers and bowmen.

Throwing with a weapon uses no ammo.

Archers are overpowered in this game. Look for my posts on the subject.

Gunslingers are more fun than archers. Grenades are a great compliment for the gunslinger. But so are a few spells.

Faw! Spells! A gunslinger should NOT use spells. I'd just go with Grenades. They are so fun.

Hey! spells rule! But I don't about learning spells when your a gunslinger.
But, i'm not sure. Out of all the scores I've had I've never been a technologist.I start off learning teleport which eventually leads to disinigrate, regenerate, invisiblity, call fire elemental. I'm going to try to be a techy this time.

Does anyone have positive things to say about throwing skill for the non-tech character?

Sure, find the Aerial Decapitator and you're a killing machine. Otherwise, you don't have many options:
Azram's Star - Good weapon thanks to critical hit increase
Balanced Boomerang - Not available (that I know of) and a tech item
Bladed Boomerang - Not very good (tech?)
Boomerang - Not very good, but it's light
    Chakram - Not very good
Serrated Chakram - Yes! A magical thrown weapon. Not bad.
    Mystical Chakram - Good, magical
    Throwing Knives - yeah, right.

Throw without 3 full ranks? I don't recommend it...

I didn't think a mage used throwing. Mages use spells, unless your a battlemage then you would be melee/dodge oriented. throwing is nice...as long as you have at least 3 ranks/expert.

I did a throwing battlemage, Elf Sold her Soul. 2 ranks to start & the boomerang, natch. Expert in Dernholm. Mystic Chakram is there on your first day in Ashbury. For the mage thrower, the Star just rules. It will travel as far as you can see with high PE. Get Sebastian, no penalties on grenades.

Actually, throwing may not be so bad. I looked up all the stats:

    Aerial Decapitator - Unbalancing D: 20-40, FT: 0, Spd: 17, Wgt: 150, Hps: 1000
    Azram's Star - Mostly unbalancing D: 1-10 (+20), FT: 1-3, Spd: 21, Wgt: 50, Hps: 200
Balanced Boomerang - Good, but not in game D: 1-10, FT: 1-3, Spd: 19, Wgt: 50, Hps: 80
    Bladed Boomerang - OK D: 1-8, FT: 1-2, Spd: 17, Wgt: 60, Hps: 80
    Boomerang - Lame D: 1-6, FT: 0, Spd: 17, Wgt: 20, Hps: 60
    Chakram - OK D: 1-10, FT: 1-3, Spd: 17, Wgt: 70, Hps: 100
    Mystical Chakram - Very good D: 1-10 (+7), FT: 1-3, Spd: 19, Wgt: 90, Hps: 120
    Serrated Chakram - Very good D: 1-10 (+5), FT: 1-3, Spd: 17, Wgt: 80, Hps: 100
    Throwing Dagger - Lamest D: 1-4, FT: 1-2, Spd: 15, Wgt: 15, Hps: 40

whichever one you choose its really funny to watch for the first three ranks of the skill. At creation get dex to 9 and two ranks in skill, then work to get dex to 12 and the third rank of skill early on.

This really takes the fun out of it though. Its nice to see a molotav go backwards! ( I guess it slips out of hand) but mostly they go 90 degrees right or left and ONCE in a while it goes forward!

If you haven't tried it DO IT!! it is really enjoyable to watch.
