I played Arcanum years ago when it was first released and while it was an incredible and time consuming game, it's in bad need of a restoration. Seeing Baldur's Gate Enhanced edition is a great example of old games having a fanbase asking for upgrades and fixes that just never got done. I notice there was a community patch, but the last work was done around 2009. I'm curious, does anyone know who was responsible for this patch? How did he modify the game without access to the source code and is it possible to put me in touch with him? I'm considering sponsoring an enhanced edition style project to upgrade the game. One last thing, after Troika games went out of business, who took over the Arcanum IP?
The patch is Drog Blacktooths isn't it? Not sure how he did it, or whether he's contactable - didn't he fallout with the board in general and arse off?
I'm not sure. I think he's still skulking around over at RPG codex. You know, I was never really too sure what set all that drama off. Drog was a benefit for the Arcanum community and fixed/enhanced many things about the game. It's a shame things wound up the way they did.
He was thinking about modding the game here a while back, but then stopped pretty abruptly. Probably PMing him on here (if he didn't delete his accounts?) or on RPG codex is your best bet, however he's extremely surly so don't expect a great response if any. He's not been around here for at least a couple of years now I think.
