My old Grandpa died yesterday afternoon at the age of 85. My dad went to their hometown today to comfort my grandma, who has passed that age, is all alone, and has a slight mental difficiency, I guess from age...

Not to sound rude or anything, but was there something about this you'd like to discuss? I mean, if we all started thinking out loud this forum would be a huge mess, so perhaps keep it to yourself every once in a while? Really, it's none of our business that your grandfather died, so disconnect and talk to people who care; your family.

Actually, I just wanted to tell you to let you know, as well as maybe a discussion of grandfathers, grandmothers, etc. could go on here...

What, do they come by the dozen now? Why don't you just say that both of your grandfathers are now deceased?

All four grandfathers? Um.. NBrosz, are your family some sort of freaks? Usually, you have 2 G-fathers, and 2 G-mothers.

Luckily, I've still got both sets alive and well.

Both my sets are alive as well. Actually, no one has died in my family for a really really long time...my great grandparents died less than a year after I was born I believe, and I think that was the last death.

Yup. Grandpa Daracula, Grandpa Franenstien, Grandpa Invisible, Grandpa Hairy. Love em all! :D

Actually, I'm adopted into this family and therefor have 4 of each, 2 from my birth parents, and 2 from my adoption ones. All grandpas are dead, though.

Wait a second nbrosz...you and Slug have both been adopted from different families into the same family? How is it you know of your original family but don't live with them? I would have thought if you'd known your biological parents then you'd probably live with them unless there's some reason not to, like them being dead/drug addicted/alco's/whatever. In which case you probably don't know them in the first place.

    So, what's the deal?

Isn't that a tad personal, Jarinor? I think it is.
Nbrosz, I'm so sorry :( That truly sucks. I loved my grandparents, people who I could relax with in a way that I can't with anyone else, including the family I have now (hubby, kids). I mean, you're raised with them, and all they want to do is give you stuff... when I was in the hospital for a serious operation, when I was 7, my grandpa and grandma always brought me peppermint ice cream (I LOOOOOVE mint!) even though I wasn't supposed to have it. *sighs*

Actually, my birth dad ran off before I was born, and my mom couldn't handle having a baby (some kind of emotional disease), and I was given to the parents I have now. My mom wanted them to have me because they figured that they would be good parents, and they were.

Thanks, Sereina! My grandma/grandpa have the perfect-tasteing garden carrots and grape juice! Oh, and my grandma makes one-of-a-kind hamburgers! They are just better then anywhere else! YUM!

Heh, yeah, well, I got my mothers parents alive, and they are so healthy I think they'll be alive for alot of years...

Well, actually, the only sad funeral I've been to is my uncles... My dad's mother's mother (dammit! I hate english has no word for dad's parents and mom's parents like swedish does) was like 96 years old when she died, so she was like supposed to die... And my grandfather on my fathers side had been sick as long as I could remember, and he could barely talk... I think going to his creator was a big reward for him really...

Going to our creator is a great reward for all of us: young or old. It just depends on where you go after you see him as to how it will last.

Sorry to hear about your Grandpa, nbrosz. I lost my Grandpa on my father's side when I was fourteen. It was a tough time because my paternal grandparents basically raised me.
