I never got the schematics from the historian at the Wheel Clan for the Iron Key to open the safe at the Zooligy Center. I don't know if I was full or what, but I tried pick pocketing him and it is not there. I can't pick the lock without a fate point and I only have ever gotten 2 of those and I am at level 32. How do you get fate points or how can I get that schematic???

Dunno, After passing the safe one time too many I thought that that was as good a time as any, and wasted my fate point on it. Don't know if it's usefull yet (I mean, you do get stuff, but it's more in the mystical -no immediate profit- kinda way).

How did you get the second fate point, cos I am at lvl 24 now, and only had one so far.. [IMG]

    ***spoiler, a little bit***

You get the schematic from Vegard at the Wheel Clan when you agree to undertake his quest (or is it when you finish it?) Hold out for the schematic and don't waste a Fate Point on the chest, unless...

    ***SPOILER***

...you want to complete the Iron Clan quest. I always do because you can earn more XP and gain some nifty items.
About Fate Points: I recently started the game again (due to BUGS, but let's not even go there) and maybe I'll keep track of when I get Points this time around. Generally, though, at your level I think I have at least 8 FP's. Are you playing an evil character or avoiding quests? Are you deviating from the storyline for a good character? I've found that the closer I stick to the "good" plot and the more quests I complete, the more FP's I get.
    Hope this helps.

There's a list of fate points and where to get them on this forum somewhere. I think they might also be listed on the main page, but I'm not so sure on that one. I know that friend_al_23's site has them - http://arcanum.netfirms.com/index.html

Wow, what do you know al? You repeating the address of your site everytime you posted actually caused me to remember it .

Also, you don't need to open the iron chest. I completed the quest associated with it, without opening the iron chest. Of course, I didn't know I was completing that quest, but I did it all the same .

Thanks for the info. I think I completed the Iron Clan quest without the POLV map, too. But in a later game I couldn't get The Book without the goodies in the Tarant chest. Mrs. Minsk just didn't dig me enough or something.
Is this making any sense? I'm trying not to spoil anybody's game.

    ***SPOILER?***

Yes, but I've sometimes had difficulty convincing the Dear Lady to part with The Book. Maybe I didn't have enough Beauty. I haven't experimented with it to figure out exactly what's going on, but when I got stuff out of the chest in Tarant and followed that plot (POLV, find The Book) back to the Minsk babe, she offered me dialog options which were previously unavailable without increasing my stats.
Like peddling off her deceased husband's property.
    What a hussy.
Maybe doing the POLV thing can save a Character Point somewhere along the line?
    Sorry about all the edits.

Dont use the fate point or the schematic!! Later in the game you can steal a book from Mrs Misk which tells you the secret location of the Iron CLan. Then, head to the Caladon Panarii temple and take the key which opens the passage to the secret location.

How do you steal The Book? What if I'm not a Thief?

I thought you can't steal the book. And also, the key she carry was for the other book she possess (the thieves guild quest). Not sure though.

Yeah, the case for The Book is booby-trapped. I seem to remember trying to open the case and being struck dead, even with Master Lockpick and a Fate Point in use. Did I miss something? Or are you thinking of the other book you can steal from the Misk tart, FLR?

What? A BUG? No way. Not in this game. Uh-uh.
    Oops. Time for my medication.

We are talking about the book in the glass case with a sign on it that reads something like "Tamper with this case and die", right?

    Steps to success:

    1. Wait until at least 10 pm at night
    2. Pickpocket Mrs Misk for the key (it opens the display case, not the back room)
    3. Steal book
    4. Get glass key however you prefer
    5. Go to Iron Clan, get the goodies .

Thanks all. Still though... any shortcuts if I have no thieving skills? It's pretty much persuasion at that point, right?

Sure, that would work. I'm just not certain I would feel...right about myself the next day. Still...

Alright...I'll do it! I'll kill the Misk tart!! But my Droogies will have to wait outside. Virgil the Dumbass will probably wander off somewhere or transmogrify into a wall.

Evil Virgil is actually quite funny to have around. The encounter with the Elder Joachim is absolutely hilarious if Virgil is evil enough! Although, it does become weird when he's using his 'tough' guy voice in conversation, then his 'regular' voice in combat.
