Don't gravedig!!!

This is not only against the rules, which may be unclear, hence this thread, but it also royally pisses people off. So don't do it. Kapish?

 

One thing that would probably help would be to have a seperate avatar/title for gravediggers; sort of like how there is a special one for spammers.

 

Hm... that's an interesting idea. Xento, I put it to you! Go find me some pictures that could be used and I'll think about it. And consult the Jinxor. I have to go stalk my new-ish neighbor that I just met yesterday.

and just to bring this back on topic and stave off that intsa-banning i vote for the last one as well, it has that cartoony feel to it that fits in here.

 

Actually, when I said 'last one', I was referring to the link. I couldn't show it, because it's host apparently doesn't allow hotlinking, but the cartoony one is good as well.

 

I like the second and third ones. But my question is- what makes you a gravedigger? Gravedigging once? Twice? I mean, some people gravedig once, then get flamed so badly they don't do it anymore. I don't remember anyone gravedigging more than twice.

 

Let's just use the 'three strikes, you're out' style. Two warnings, then the third is punishment.

 

Getting a snazzy special avatar might be seen more as reward than punishment. Especially for a newbie who's sick of the generic condom avatar and wants to stand out.

An avatar plus a no-posting probation might have a better impact. Maybe a "go sit in the corner" avatar for probationers?

 

Whats really gravedigging? I'm sure I have asked a question that was duplicated from previous posts. But If the posts don't have an answer i guess you have to ask it again.

Good idea, but I think that the probation should come after a punishment of some kind. Besides, aside from the avatar, a fairly embarassing title could be added.

I would say 3 gravedigs means punishment lvl 1 - gravedig avatar/title
5 gravedigs means punishment lvl 2 - secondary avatar/title (something quite insulting and embarassing to wearer)
7 gravedigs means probation and a totally insulting avatar/title.
8+ means banning.

It may sounds like an obsticle course, but I think that it would cut people down a bit at a time, which would do more damage in all.

Maybe this could be the lvl 2 avatar:


Lvl 3 could be the following, along with the probation (lvl 2 and 3 avatars can be switched)

 

i got two questions first what is grave digging and two out of interest how does one become a moderator

 

Grave-digging is responding to a thread whichhasn't had any replies to it in..... say a week...... there are exceptions, such as responding with something useful/informative and not just the like of.... "HaHa u R so GaY!!!11!!!! L0L." that would get you a very short stay here.
As to becoming a mod.......i'll let the officials handle that one, suffice to say you have zero chance of it happening.

Gravedigging, as I define it, is replying to an old thread - whether or not the reply is pointless. It's my opinion that this is not the sole source of information on the Internet, and thus if someone asks a question in a thread, and it isn't answered, and two weeks later you come along and make a reply, chances are the original problem has already been solved.

The time frame on gravedigging is highly subjective - mrnobodie's joke thread, for instance, never dies, even though it might go quite a while without a post - but in general, older than three or four days gets me mildly annoyed. More than a week without a post and I get pissed off.

As for becoming a moderator, it just doesn't happen. This site has been around for two and a half years, in that whole time, only two people have been promoted - Jinxed, who now runs the site, and Snowmane, who was only appointed recently. Harsh as it may sound, mrnobodie was right - you have zero chance of becoming a moderator here.

 

Just out of curiosity how DID yall pick new moderators? I am certainly not plannin on becomin one (unless of course you are in a generous mood ) but I just wanted to know.
