My question is simple, what mods are worth grabbing? I'm looking for mods that fix bugs and enhance the game without taking away the charm of the game. Magick/Tec fixes, item fixes, quest fixes ect Things along those line? Thanks!

I refuse playing mods (except for yaBASS' upcoming. That's gonna be sweet!), so I really can't be of any help. Spam anyone?

yaBASS? What is going to happen in that one? I've read about the Car Arcanum and the one that took 4 years to make that rebalances the magick system.

There's the krupp's weapon mod pack, that does some tweaks to the guns in the game, without disturbing the overall balance too much.

CAR arcanum does lots of changes all over the game, making fights a lot more difficult, but not quite in the possitive way. If you want a challange, have a go, but other than that the original game is somehow lost in this mod.

You might also try the original Troika modules.

Can't say much about the magic system mod, but personally I didn't like the way it rearranged the spells. Still, if it makes them work allright, I'd reccomend having a go at it.

I have played a little bit of the Car Arcanum but there were some insane changes. I found myself walking down this LONG AND STRAIT corridor full of traps... Wasn't too fun. Carrying around a bunch of leaves in my invetory that boost my stats... Is this what you mean about the orriginal is lost in the mod? What about this weapon fix?

The leaves, the traps and kites posioning you when you hit them. Also Being able to start the game with a nearly maxed out meele char and still have trouble fighting your way out of the crash site.

It simply has the "mod" feel IMO. Kind of like the old doom levels that were suppoded to be tough becouse the author put a dozen cyberdeamons in one room. They were tough, but not very satysfying, not compared to beating the original boss anyway.

As for the gun mod, I don't really remember what the changes were, but generally damadge-to-speed-to-ammo use ratios have been tweaked so the guns were a bit more interesting then the fine revolver being the best thing until the you got looking glass rifle, that was obseleated by the warbringer. Also some sounds were changed in some pack i got a long time ago. They didn't sound like the rest of arcanum, but were good for a bit of diversity.

lol yes, exactly. That begining area was rather annoying... Anyways, to the original question. What mods out there put more effort to fixing what is there instead of adding new content when there is broken/unblanaced content already? Don't get me wrong, new content can be great if done correctly but what about the fixes? :p Also, where are these mods if people know of them? Thanks!

Send a blank CD to Tim Cain and he'll fix you up. He even gives you a beta version of Arcanum 2!

Or you could go here: Downloads

Ahh yes, the download menu. Any Mods worth picking up? I could try them all out myself but I'll instead chose to benifet from your people's vast sea of knowledge and wisdom. Please no Car Arcanum, mods more into fixes. Kinda like player made patch likes Bloodlines and TOEE :)

Go with Sinbad's hack then. I think he put most of the fan made patches in it. Sorry to say, but most of the fixes were in the download section at Dimensions of Arcanum, which doesn't work anymore.

Arcanum modders tend to create their own mods, rather than worry about fixing the main module.

But I think that TONGS got most of the Dimensions stuff, ask him to email some to you. (I'm not guaranteeing that he will)

e-gads! No luck it seems, heh. Sinbads Hak may be my best bet? I do not know TONG so I don't know how to find out about the possible mods he has. You meantioned modders perfer making their own mods. Any that stand out above the rest? Thanks

If you want the Dimensions of Arcanum downloads, you could e-mail me too, I got them from TONGs to put them here, and am working on it, but there are lots of them so it'll take a while.

Yeah, that would be cool. What kind of downloads are they? Or will you be posting them on here soon? I've grown tired of Morrowind crashing on me on the PC and was putting Arcanum in -again-

Ooo, I found the Dimensions of Arcanum site and see the long line of mods and fixes, neat stuff. It seems fine to download items but it asks me to subscribe to Fileplanet.com I don't really want to subscribe to them atm but since you said they are lost. If I ACTUALLY subscribed to fileplanet the files would be gone or some such?

It was hit and miss around the first of May. Roughly half the links I tried didn't work.

I too was trying to gather everything I could.

Sacrificing your first born is always a good way to speed the process if you must see TONGSyaBASS, but you can only ever do it once, so think about it first.

Someone has mentioned TONGSyaBASS' mod, what is it all about? Maybe we should make a petition to, erm, 'encourage' the progress? We can always temp with chocolate, sweets, and perhaps blind devotion. I mean, c'mon, Arcanum mod! We need a group like the one they have over at Circle of the Eight! Maybe we should gather some talented modders and creat something ongoing for the good of Arcanum. I know Arcanum deserves the attention. So who is with me, yeah? BTW, the first born may be tempting. Even if you give it up, you can have more, yes? Hey now, c'mon! He may be my second born but he's just as good, see? If not faster, stronger, better :p

You are the nth person to say "lets make teh ultimate Arcanum mod, yeah!". But it won't make a difference, modders do their own thing, if you have a vision of your own perfect Arcanum, I suggest learning to use WoldEd.
