Pickpocketing 4 and no more?

I cannt rise my pickpocketing more then 4(to 5 ;-) . My Dex - 20, but it tells me that "You must rise your dexterity first"!!?? Is it a bug? I dont know my version of Arcanum, 'cause i dont know, where i could look it%-/
My char is half-ogr, maybe he cannt be ThiethMasta!

 

If you haven't downloaded the latest patch then you have original version. I don't believe they reissued the game with the latest update.

I use dexterity enhanced items and when dex=18 its really 14, I am able to add the 5th point.

Not sure if the race matters!

dont half ogres get a penalty to pickpocket, try using light fingered gauntlets, that will put it up a bit, you dont need to be a master pickpocket anyway the bonus you get is never getting caught planting an item, you dont need to do that anyway, just drop the item nearby someone.

BTW, the patch cures problems from when it is installed. If you have a patch related problem that is in the plotline, you need a save from before you ran into the problem.

They only have a disadvantage in prowl, not pickpocket.

 

well i thought it was only in prowl but i wasn't sure, mayber there should be a disadv. in pickpocket i mean a half-ogre pickpocketing a halfling?!? and no disadvsntage?

hey ive got it!

if there was a disadvantage for any character, on the size of the other character (or advantage eg halfling on ogre) then becoming a master could have a really cool effect of getting rid of the size disadvantage instead of never being caught planting items.

 

Yeah running around the town twice naked is not to much of a thrill, even your party members are trying to get you to put your clothes back on...hehehehe

is there any good non-magickal piece of small armor for a prowling/thieving/backstabbing character? im not even able to find one that would be better than a "small leather armor" . im not into spells , so a magickal armor would be of no uze...

any oiled thiefs leather is good, you get some bonuses i think, you can get them from the shopkeeper at the tarant fence and i think at the magick shop in blackroot, even tho they are not really magickal

oh and theres another problem i have : the bowmaster, Pierce, in caladon won't stop refusing to talk about master bow training, although i already have maxed out archery skill and i have received "expert" training. he just greets me, if i try to talk to him, i dont have no conversation options.

 

sounds like a bug do you have the 1.0.7.4 patch, if not you will have to start from a save before you met pierce because the patch only fix's things after where you currently are

 

i already had the patch even before i started this character...
maybe i should find his apprentice first, do you know where i can find him?

 

He's joined the archers in Dernholm. Check around the barracks.

erm... how can i join the thieves guild?

 

Go back to tarant and go down the first street to the left and talk to the guy between the buildings on your right.

1, Get the info from Lucian the Witless.
a, Destroy the bridge materials.
b, Run a scam on him.

2, Get the Elven stone for Mrs. Pettibone.

3, Steal Bates' journal for Appelby.

Then talk to the dude in the alley or the patron at Lil's bar.

 

thx, after i killed lucian, and helped Gil Bates (-> Bill Gates??), it seems there is no other way than to try to do the "stone quest" for Mrs. Pettibone...
i think i'll give it a try
