Well Yes and no. I still can use the magic stuff on Virgil and if I have him, Sogg. They can still make use of it. I have noticed though that the vast majority of items I find are cursed. Either Arcanum had alot of inept wizards making this stuff or they enjoyed making things nobody could use. Weird.
