Trapped In Black Root

    Just started seriously playing the game after a million starts and restarts and seem to have gotten myself stuck in Black Root. I can't use the world map, or even the waypoint map. No matter where I go in this joint I can't seem to get out. I'm only 9th level so it's not like I can teleport away. What's the deal? Is this how Black Root is supposed to be or am I bugged?

    Had this problem before.
    I couldn't leave by going northward so I headed in south till the world map was ready and then it worked.
