Hi, Virgil died in an incident at the Temple in Shrouded Hills. I accidentally threw something at the steam machien and the groundskeeper tried to kill us both. I've been playing on without Virgil, for the past hours. Now people are telling me I had better just restarted the game. Is this true?
Buy a scroll of resurrection and use it on his dead body. You can buy them from the Magick Shop in Tarant, but they cost >5000 coin. You can easily get enough coin fast by doing the following: 1.)Follow Ritzee from Shrouded Hills into his bedroom after advancing time to night, and then advance time further 2 hours. 2.)Pickpocket his key (save first) 3.)Steal from his chest. 4.) If you have enough gold, then quit and go buy the scroll. Otherwise walk outside the house, wait 24 hours, and go back to step (3)
Virgil is useful as a healer, especially for neutral or magick characters, plus he introduces quite a bit of story with his character. There are other healers around, not to mention that you can learn to do it yourself, so that isn't that much of a factor. Missing out his story plot would be quite a waste, though, it really adds flavour to the game. It is recommended to play through the game with Virgil as one of your companions at least once (or even better, twice - once with a good character and once with an evil one).
Ok I will restart, keeping Virgil alive. This first taste of the game was a good tutorial. Virgil was probably a good guy, even if all he had was some ragged clothes, a staff, and a bottle of wine.
