    Hardcore Pr0n is cool.

I recently watched Frailty, I must say I haven't seen a good thriller in a long time and this movie hit the spot.

But alas, I don't have much time these days and rarely watch anything. I only watch tv while eating lunch or dinner. (Mainly news)

I'm waiting for the Resident Evil DVD to come out. I'll watch that movie over and over again until I myself become a Zombie.

PS Slug, are you related or know Nbrosz in any way?

I recently rented Brotherhood of the Wolf, aside from the kung-fu expert, obviously non-indian Iroquois, the more possible suspects than a game of Clue storyline, and the bizarre tongue petting of the beast by the "hero" at the end, it was a pretty good movie.

Depends on my mood. I generally like interesting regardless of genre. I don't like movies which are made for the sake of being called ambitious while watching them makes you try to cut your rists - with a wooden spoon. When I'm tired I enjoy action movies. Yes, all the huge explosions, undestructible heroes and no thinking required - great relax. I mean here movies like Die Hard and the like. No Rambo, Commando or other pathetically serious and completely not funny movies.

As for comedies I like black humor comedies lately (I laughed my ass off watching "Very Bad Things").

I like almost all movies. I can't seem to help myself, I just find something in most of them.

Ones I didn't like include: The Fast and the Furry Ass, Tomb Raider, and Kung Pow: Enter the Silly Bugger.

Ones I have particularly liked, this year, have included all the obvious plus Panic Room, Signs, Minority Report, K-PAX, Reign of Fire and Ocean's Eleven.

Action and Fantasy are my favorites. I like stuff like Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars/Star Trek.

Oh, where to start, where to start... Recently, I've watched an extremely bad Swedish Evil Dead knockoff, called "Evil Ed". It's bad. Really bad, especially the acting. But it's funny as well. I guess the Really Bad Horror genre is one you either love or hate...

Minority Report is a movie I absolutely LOVED. I was expecting a Matrix-like actionfest with a somewhat decent plot and lots of action, but what I got was something that reminded me more of Blade Runner than of The Matrix. I never knew Spielberg could make this kind of movie.

Kung Pow: Enter the Fist simply kicked ass.
Resident Evil was a pretty good action movie as well.

Reign of Fire: Cool movie, but not as awesome as I had hoped. Still, I don't think you can go wrong by mixing a post-apocalyptic setting with dragons.

The Salton Sea: I absolutely loved this movie. Go see it.

The Bourne Identity: Decent action movie, but it contains some painfully bad scenes. This movie is set in Europe (France, for a large part) but it is obviously aimed at the US market. Most of us Europeans will cringe at seeing certain things...

The New Guy: I laughed my ass off at this movie. Most of the jokes are just so over-the-top... definitely something I can appreciate (hence my love of Invader Zim and Kung Pow).

    Now for the bad.
The Time Machine was pretty... blah. Didn't like K-Pax all too much either. I haven't watched Signs yet because my housemates told me it sucked.
Enough (with Jennifer Lopez) is one of the crappiest movies of all time. Not to spoil the plot for you, but it deals with Jenny running from her husband for the entire movie, right up until the end where some boxer-dude gives her a few pointers on how to fight and she beats up her husband. I pity anyone who paid money to see this. The only reason I watched it was that a housemate's girlfriend was in control of our movie server at that particular time.

The Time Machine was one of the ones I inexplicably kinda enjoyed. Oh, I know it was a bad movie. I could even explain why I disliked several aspects of the movie (needlessly introducing a romantic motivation for building his machine, for example), but I somehow enjoyed watching it.

If it wasn't for the fact I hated Kung Pow when you and Milo liked it, I'd be tempted to classify myself as one of those "will watch anything" people.

All the past movies I've seen have been pretty good. Although I can't really remember them. If the critics gave it a bad review, I probably liked it.

I'm just waiting for that jackass movie. I can't get enough of that crazy cky stuff

Mmmm, I'm a sucker for time-travel. But I actually haven't seen many (note: any) good movies recently.

As part of a school activity/excursion type thing, we went to the movies. Nothing on, but I figured we'd just get away with something moderately bad. Well, 9 out of 24 voted for XXX    .

I want two hours of my life back. I just can't stress how bad this movie is. And Vin Diesel... he makes Roger Moore look good  .

Save yourself - Vin Diesel's going to make your head explode.

I didn't actually mind seeing XXX all that much. It had some fun action and a bit of a different outlook on the entire "secret agent" concept. However, you should probably just stop watching about 15 minutes before the end. Those minutes really, REALLY sucked. As for the rest of the movie: not particularly good, but fun enough to watch.

As for The Time Machine, it was an ok movie I guess. The special effects made it worth watching, but it was definitely a forgettable experience, and I'm probably never gonna watch it a second time.

That reminds me, they're doing or have done, a film called "Once Upon a Time In the West Midlands" or something, about people who live in Birmingham. It's a cultural thing (you have to know about Birmingham) but it is basically going to be a pastiche, substituting English working class drama and characters for the more exotic milieus associated with the "Once Upon a Time in the West" format.

[EDIT]Once Upon a Time in the Midlands @ IMdb

Oh yeah, and LotR info page for Mael. Trailer is next to the Plot Outline and Release Dates are an item on the left sidebar menu.

Forgive me if I mentioned this somewhere else, but the recent remake of the Count of Monte Christo is really well done. It made my personal DVD movie library, and I highly recommend it to everyone. Although, those of you who disliked the Time Machine (can't imagine why) may want to avoid this one, as it stars Guy Pearce (spell?) as the Count Mondego.

You can tell a movie is bad when something tragic happens and the entire audience bursts out laughing. I wonder if they just skipped the test audience step for The Time Machine.

I haven't had the opportunity to watch very many good movies this summer, and the movies I have seen I mostly forget; seeing them during 14 hour plane flights will do that :) .
But this year, I really liked Simone with Al Pacino. It's hilarious, and at the same time faintly disturbing.

Simone was pretty funny, though I didn't like the end. I saw Spirit this summer which is kinda sad... there were all these little kids in the theater and me and my friend Charlotte were the only ones above age... 10 and under age... 30. It was sorta corny, but cute. I also saw Lilo and Stitch. However, I was forced to see it with the annoying I'm-in-fourth grade-but-don't-look/sound/act/dress like it. It was also pretty cute. ... what else? hmmm.... gotta think .......

I haven't seen anyone mention my favorite movies, but here we go - my top 5 (not in any particular order, either):

Pi - This movie is incredible! Being a math/physics geek, I suppose, really endeared me to it. Max's philosophy on the underlying mathematic nature of reality closely mirrors my own. And I can somewhat relate to the endless stream of mathematical chaos driving you mad.

Brazil - What can I say? This movie was flawless. Beautiful. Disturbing and thought provoking in a dark and delicious way. I never tire of seeing it, much to my DVD player's delight.

Memento - The entire movie goes backwards, and still manages to bring forth characters and a story line that is engrossing. This movie just challenges you in so many ways, and then remains open-ended in its finale. LOVED this one.

Shawshank Redemption - Uplifting, well-arranged, and just so engendering all the way through. This is actually my most favorite movie of all time, to a fault. I became an instant Frank Darabont fan, and his next few movies weren't as good. Oh well. Shawshank remains a masterpeice in my mind.

The Silence of the Lambs - Need I say more, Clarissssse? Just....fucking.....awesome. So there. Unfortunately - Hannibal really dissapointed. Let's hope Red Dragon redeems this. Haven't seen it yet - Don't spoil it for me, though!

There's my top 5. If you haven't seen any of them, I encourage you to! I can't imagine anyone going through life without having seen them! So there you have it, kiddos!

EDIT - I would have put Amelie up there, but although visually and creatively beautiful, there's just something about it that didn't make it into the top 5. Maybe because it's french. Don't know. ;-)

    What other movies kick ass?

Lord of the Rings: FotR- That was cool. Way cool. Fights, fellowship... and... ermm... gotta think of another f here... fucking cool. I didn't understand why they cut Sam looking into Galadriel's mirror, or when she gives them the presents. Both scenes are really important, more so than some let's-smooch-Aragon/Arwen scene.

Piece of Cake- This movie was spectacular... even if you don't like war movies, it was worth seeing for the Spitfires alone. The scenery was gorgeous, and the movie was funny, touching and endearing. Yes, I did cry a lot at the end.

Animal House- Hehe! Crude humor. I think that this movie is hilarious. Bleuchi (sp?) steals the scenes with his over the top character. The end is so perfect to... I think it's worth seeing.

Amedeus- This is about... well, Motzart.... that wasn't really hard to figure out though. It was pretty funny in some parts, while also somewhat scary. "Pinto" from Animal House plays Motzart in this movie, and I think he does a great job. Definately watch the dvd for improved sound and the like.

A League of Their Own- I think that this is a great, tremendously under-rated movie. It's really funny, especially in Jon Lovitz's priceless cameo. I really like Geena Davis, I think she's really good in it (not to mention really pretty!) ... the only thing I really don't like about it her younger sister. I find that character really selfish, rude, and generally annoying as hell. Other than her, I think A League of Their Own is worth checking out.[/i]
