Actually, I just wanted you to pick something ridiculous out of my post (which itself is fluff) that has nothing to do with the only problem I had with your previous one - dreams are a subconscious process, not a conscious one.

Conscious is simply being self-aware. "Subconscious" is a misleading term that can either mean the unconscious mind or a consciousness below consciousness, but I use the word intending "unconscious" with a more edgy sound to it.

If we go with unconscious, it's any collection of thoughts or memories within a person's mind of which they're not directly aware.

If we go with "subconscious," it's to consciousness much like the sewer mutants in Futurama are to New New York.

These distinctions are blurred when you examine yourself closely.

The so-called unconscious mind is nonetheless constantly vigilant, even when you're asleep.

The subconscious can be a tangled mess, no question about it, but it does not have to be buried or shut off.

To me it sounds like your head is finally getting through to your heart that crazy bitches throw guilt trips, but you gotta respect yo'self', bruz.

sLEEPING WITH CRAZY EX, OR NOT TO SLEEP WITH CRAZY EX? Besides caps, the sex is great. But you know, she is batshit crazy.

Will the sexy time be worth it? Dunno.

No, sex is amazing if you're doing it right. Or wrong...either way, I've got a closed chapter in my life and I'm not the kind to cheat.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here (without reading the thread) and just point out that the sex is amazing and that you can't cheat if you are single.

If you don't have crazy exes, then you are the crazy ex.

    Re:

For a small "donation"*, we can send you a, uh, "friend"** who can "fix"*** your current lack of crazy ex's.

*Around 300 SEK, mostly to cover expenses for shipping.

    **Wobbler.

***Have sexual intercourse with you which might, or might not, involve weird things that only people such as Crypton would find enjoyable.

My ex isn't crazy. Just misguided. Or so I'd like to believe.

On the internet, that's like saying he's a serial killer.

    Hitler was only misguided.

Those two sentences are two different train of thought and are not to be taken into consideration when thinking of what I mean.

    Also, I am bored.

Sigh. It works like this: When in REM sleep, random thoughts are generated and memories recalled. The reason for this is unknown, but if you deprive someone of this part of sleep then their cognitive functions deteriorate, especially those to do with memory, so it's likely that it's a necessary part of memory maintenance and storage. In other words, it's boring and biological, rather than something to do with metaphor or predicting the future or sensing when someone close to you dies.

If you remain asleep, then you are unaware of this process. However, if you happen to wake up in the middle of it, then your conscious mind* sees whatever thoughts/memories are active at the time, and, in an effort to be helpful, interprets them into a little story or experience, because that's its purpose. You then become aware of the finished product as a dream. You know you were asleep, but you have the sensation of having experienced something.

    * If you want to be picky, then it's the processing layer just below what you think of as your conscious mind, but it's close enough - the point is that it's part of the component** of your brain that gives you consciousness, as opposed to other components that provide memory or analysis or visualisation or whatever. If you want to call this part the "sub-conscious" then go ahead, but I don't think that term is very helpful because it is loaded with historical connotations.

** Components can be distributed throughout the cortex, so this doesn't mean there is one physical part of the brain that is responsible for consciousness. It's a rich tapestry.

P.S. Congratulations on getting over your crazy ex.

In my professional opinion the previous two statements are both scientifically correct.

Oh, I forgot that ytzk went on a special two-week retreat to learn how to fap about consciousness. I'm now an amateur compared to him. His fapping is so all-encompassing that he can't even begin to explain it to us lowly denizens of reality. I apologize for wasting your time with my silly so-called science when instead it's ytzk's subjective experience that will show us the way.
