    yes, if you dont have persuasion to get the info from lukan your usually better to get the elven burial stone for mrs pettibone, if you blow up the bridge materials you get an evil reptation, and the quest for bates' journal can be VERY hard, depending on what sort of character

    to get the stone quest, you have to talk to pettibone on the corner. then she tells you to follow her to talk. If persuasion is high enough you can get another 100 out of her before you accept the quest.
