Our party so far + our first Swadian knight. What a proud mentor we must be.

(Swadians have the best heavy cavalry.)

Since last report I also found some cool new garb to wear. It is neat, but a bit heavy, and limits our mobility a wee bit.

(The more encumbrance you have, the slower you move on foot. Offset by your athletics and agility.)

As we wander the streets of Praven, we find the place where that (relatively) friendly old merchant took us under after that lone maniac charged upon us. Velorien is reminded of his (relative) kindness, and decides to pay him a visit.

Oh, that's right, he had a bit of an undertaking for us, rescuing his brother and whatnot! Shouldn't be too much of a hassle with our medium-sized band of medium-skilled troops to take out a bunch of low level looters. Even though they outnumber us, and even then only barely.

We decide to return his favour and go get his brother. Running into little resistance, Velorien feels like it would have been more fun if it was done at the beginning of the game.

As we return, we are hindered on our way over to the Merchant's table by a very drunk, violent looking old bloke with a fresh-looking sword, who seems to think we were stepping to him. Those people really rustle my jimmies.

(Later in the game you can use your renown score to scare these guys away. That's always hilarious.)

The merchant seems less than grateful however, looking at his brother as more of a liability than anything. But when did we ever intrude on anyone's business? This isn't Mass Effect. The money is fine and that suits us. He says he has another job for us, though. He says that the bandits have actually infiltrated the town watch, with a local bandit lord paying a crooked watch captain so his men can go around posing as guards and harrassing the civilians as they please. Rather than take this through the political hoops, he just decides to pay us to kill them all. Seems like the right thing to do. I mean, we get paid. That's always the right thing to do.

As most of the merchant's men are local citizens with little to no field training, you better believe they don't stay on their feet long. Most of them end up barely concious as the fight ends. But we get 'em in the end. We always do.

(In CQC, the rules of modern engagements apply here as well. Walls are very useful as cover against enemy projectiles. You can hide behind them to lure enemies in, too!)

Very cool so far Yuki, I vote we build our forces and go amongst the land conquering the weak! Perhaps some type of horse archer unit if it exists and we can afford it.

Unfortunetly, horse archer units are weak as shit in this game (except for when the player decided to be one).

My vote goes to a lineup of Swadian Knights, Nord Huscarls and Rhodok Sharpshooters. An army like that is invincible.

Also, the best strategic aproach to conquering Calradia is to get shitloads of honor, right to rule and to befriend as many lords as possible (so they'll join us when we start up our own kingdom).

    My two cents.

I bought the game on Steam tonight. By the time it is my turn I'll have learned how to move forward and maybe strafe (if it exists in the game). Count me in!

In our latest battle it seems we recovered another piece of armor superior to our previous one! Much heavier but much more protective! It doesn't quite break old Velorien's bones and it keeps him from taking slash and stab wounds to the gut. Still gotta work on those high velocity arrows, though.

After several days of our band lounging about in the tavern, a sad looking farmer stumbles in through the door, quietly ordering a drink. Nobody seems to take note other than Velorien and a few of his retinue. When asked about his problems, he spills the beans. His village has been taken by bandits to serve as a de facto base of operations for some time, running every man away from the streets. Velorien's eyes glow and he smiles as he tells the man something he will be very glad to hear. We just happen to be a mercenary band looking for work. Prices are arranged. We are willing to stoop very low because let's face it, we're not exactly the Melitine Lance company. Plus we've been sitting in this tavern swapping war stories for several days now, so we'll welcome any action we can get. The guys were close to starting fights and several got thrown out and had to sleep in the stables.

Right as we are about to head out of the tavern, we pass the old merchant we've had dealing s with in the past few days. He took the corrupt watch captain to the king to face justice, only to be exiled from the country. Such is life in Calradia.

    My biggest addition to Velorien)

That poor merchant. I suppose that will teach him for doing the right thing. Having played a large amount of M&B over the last few days I now feel confident to be able to make suggestions. I think we should travel to a new location and focus on taking down looters and bandits. The steppes might be a wonderful place to visit.

If you wish to stop playing you will need to forward me the save either via PM or email.

Once you have done so I will pass it on to Hellrust.

If he acts like a dick I'm sure Charonte could then forward the save onto Wolfsbane.

As per the rules, if he does not contribute something in the next 4 days the save will simply be sent to the next player (this is exactly why I requested the saves to come back to me).

I can't believe people have such little faith in Hellrust, he seems like a mightily consistent guy.
